What buyers say about Red Sky Over Hawaii: A Novel by Sara Ackerman
I don't know if Lana was a white savior because she helped hide people from being taken to a camp, or if there were white people who actually helped them during this time, but I just know I didn't get that feeling from this.
The tension and fear within the communities is very real even with this story being a glimpse into the past.
She tells us that the story is set on the Big Island rather than on Oahu, which is an entirely different world, and that she has a deep knowledge of the flora, fauna andspirit of Hawai'i.
Red Sky Over Hawaii is the second book I've read by Sara Ackerman, and it was a five star read for me, I absolutely loved it.
I enjoyed learning about the time in history when Hawaii was attacked from the perspective of the outer islands, as well as the vivid description of Hawaii, in the days following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
