It is rare for me to find a book with a well-developed storyline that is fun to read but also has a historical setting that is accurate.
I think more development and attachment to her mother, Claire, would have made a difference, as she was a fitting character to carry on the legacy of these strong women.
I really liked the parts where we are following the three characters and the background for them made me feel like I was in their lives, as the writing was so good and the characters so well written that I felt like I was in their lives.
She writes about France in the war and the same family and friends in the present day.
The structure of the scenes cut up the past with the present didn't work and were written without any purpose other than to show the more interesting meat of the past.
