I switched to FirstAlert BRK9120b models two years ago, have 6 detectors in my home, and EverReady batteries lasted 23 months, just replaced all of them today with the Amazon Basic 9-volts, fit and function is all good.
I am not sure if the problem of being over-sized and shorter terminals has been fixed yet.
I bought these and had no problem with them fitting in my smoke detectors, they seem to be the same size as any other 9volt device.
