I am not a fan of open blisters since the pull tab is small and slippery, but I think it's better to use this instead of the blisters.
I use them for my remote controls and buy them in multi-pack because they are cheaper and I don't have to get up and do things manually if my batteries go dead.
It works well in remote controls, and I wish the packaging had a date on it to allow for a longer shelf life.
