The stories are very similar to modern Canterbury Tales, with entries in the back of the book like the Tale of the Acrobat who did not want to get off his trapeze again or the Tale of the Neurasthenic.

There are entries in the back of the book about the Tale of the Acrobat who did not want to get off his trapeze ever again and the Lawyer who settled in Indonesia.

This is a collection of dozens upon dozens of engaging, often engrossing tales, a late twentieth century version of the Thousand and One Nights.

It requires a commitment in an age when it is increasingly hard to find someone who will do it, and I am curious to see if he wrote more than this book.
