What buyers say about Martin Guitar Authentic Acoustic Lifespan 2.0 MA540T
I was hopeful that I would like the new strings, based on the reviews on Amazon. I strung up my old J-30, which is usually a very rich tone and has great volume from low E to high E.
If you are a normal player, you could probably get away with changing these out once a month or less often, but if you are a light player, you'll probably have to do it every three weeks.
I don't like the sound of that guitar but once that phase is over they have a beautiful warm tone that really brings out the unique sound of your guitar.
Martin strings are described as being treated rather than coated and they last about twice as long as regular strings.
I gave these to my son as he is the guitarist of the household and he liked the coated guitar strings, which sound a bit duller than regular strings in exchange for supposedly doubling the length of life.
These strings leave black greasy marks on my fingers and cause indentations in fingers with black stuff inside.
It's the same with all guitar strings that are coated in bronze, it's just the skin oils reaction to bronzing that's harmful.
What is the difference between light, custom light, and so on?
The custom light strings are a bit smaller in diameter than the light as shown below.
What is the width?
It's wide enough for these strings, they'll fit just about any acoustic guitar.
Are the strings lite or medium?
They are lightweight strings.
Is it normal for these strings to have black marks on them after playing?
Yes they are treated, most times the strings are coated with light rosin and after normal usage will diminish. However in rare instances peoples chemistry will interact and cause corrosion of this faster than normal.
