If the gap is very small, the material should be fine, as it is best suited for small surface nicks and scratches. To buff it in, I would use a light sealer, which is very tough and invisible.

No. The mfg. stresses laminate seams, such as Formica.

It would do a great job of hiding the seam, I had a 16 crack across my white laminate countertop, someone had jumped up on it to sit and put a 16 crack in it.

Yes. It sealed a crack in my laminate and kept the water out.
Is it possible that it works with cast iron sink chips?
I didn't try it on a sink, but the results should be the same, a good repair, and the finish won't be the same, but maybe a nice clear coat after would give you a great finish.
