What buyers say about Etched in Sand: A True Story of Five Siblings Who Survived an Unspeakable Childhood on Long Island
They had food, shelter, warmth, and love, but they were also strong because of their love for each other.
A woman who was abused as a child and dealt with the system going from place to place made a great life for herself and her siblings, because she was allowed by her mother to take her and her siblings back to abuse them again.
It's sad to know how poor these children were raised, but they were also very strong. Sometimes hardship makes us stronger, and this book made me happy to know that most children get what they want.
I hated it to end, but I think New York Social Services failed these children. The siblings should be so proud of themselves.
I struggled to put the book down as it was so heartbreaking to read how she and her siblings struggled in their early years.
