We don't get to meet Coco until we're well into the book, probably half way.
It has only been a few years since my husband and I decided against pursuing other pathways to parenthood when we learned biological children were not in the cards for us, so I was not sure if I was ready for this book.
It is impossible to take away the love, the safety and the strength that can never be taken away from a child.
I was immediately drawn to the story and found the author to be an excellent writer, but as I read along, I began to feel a deep unease in my gut, and there is a lot to unpack in this book.
The author reveals the harsh parts of her own self and her marriage in the short chapters and it helps drive this narrative deeper into your heart.
