I have been using this machine for a number of weeks now and I am really happy with it, it can accommodate different sized cans, and it is easy to clean.
I decided on this simple steel tool because it is sturdy and easy to use, but it didn't really appeal to me because it doesn't work with cans.
If you are using it on a kitchen counter, I would suggest putting a towel under it to keep the counter surface protected and spraying some Silicone on the inside walls to make it easier to use.
The crushers seems to be sturdy, but I had some issues with it right away.
The can stays put even though it's raised "X" for the can to sit, and the padded handle is much easier and more reliable than the one that bent easily.

Does this product work on aluminum bottles?
I don't have these types of bottles, but it only holds a 7 inch tall can, so I wouldn't say yes.
Does it need to be mounted to a wall or can it be used on a table freehand?
I think it would be too unstable not being mounted.
I'm not sure what size pilot holes to use to drill for dry wall anchors.
They measure 5/32 inch. But drywall mounting is likely to fail over time even with the four screw/anchors that are provided.
They are a little taller than a regular 12oz can. Will it be able to crush a Coors light can?
It doesn't have to crush the 12 oz Red Bull cans, the ones that are a little thinner and taller than a 12oz soda can.
Is it necessary to have different screws for mounting on a stud?
It's fine if you put it into a stud, but do not mount it in drywall unless you're in a stud.
