The tops can be rotation so the wholes can be set on the other side.

I think the seller was doing a basic even up, as I have measured my desk with 2 different measurers and it still comes up almost, but not quite 28".
Can you tell the depth of the desk?
The corner of the room where mine is butted is where the outside edges touch the walls.
Is it smooth on the top?
It is almost smooth, there is a perception of a rough surface because of the micro details on the surface, and touching the nail on the surface and moving forward and back is possible to feel the resistance.
Sometimes it looks black and sometimes it looks brown in reviewer's images, can someone clarify the "Espresso" color of the desk?
It's a dark brown, I received mine in the last month.
