It is not easy to install and cause degreeation in your seal, if used without a rack, that could let in noise, air, and rain.
We need a ladder to get up on top of the vehicle, but I am short so we just rolled the bag off the vehicle and stored it in the garage for our next trip.
We had a long drive to NY and it rained a little on our way there, but everything was still dry. once arrived everything was still dry.
I really like this bag, but it was a shame that one of the clips broke, so they replaced it for free.
It is a great investment to buy it because it can hold many things, but it is not as good as taking two cars on the road.
